National network on ICT in university teaching
In August 2010, a conference on ICT and innovative forms of learnin was arranged by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. At this conference the minister of research, Charlotte Sahl-Madsen, decided to establish a ‘new’ national network on ICT in university teaching. Read about it here (in Danish).
A programme committe has now been formed, and I have been asked to take part in the work of this committee. A representative from each of the Danish universities makes up the committee, and the first meeting was held in the ministry today.
The plan is to focus on sharing knowledge and experience across institutions, and also to address what seems to be the most vital task, namely to support teachers who wish to change the way they teach and who wish to develop their teaching competencies further in relation to use of ICT.
In my opinion there is at least three important issues we should address:
develop (more) tools and methods to support teachers in transforming or developing their teaching
how to adjust the experiences of others to ‘fit’ the local context, organisational as well as technological
how to combine use of ICT in teaching with learning how to use ICT (both students and lecturers)
