I’m participating in The Nordforsk network seminar at Aalborg University these couple of days. Learning about Action Learning, collaborative tool (I already know about), action research, problem based learning, etc….
Together with colleauge Thomas Ryberg I gave a presentation at this seminar. Thomas talked about the need for empowering teachers with design tools so they stay in charge when using ICT in their classrooms. We then demonstrated the CoED-tool, and had some very interesting discussions with the participants about strenghts and weaknesses of the tool.
For some time now, we have been phrasing questions for further development of the tool, and we will work with these in a new project in the spring.
Interesting group of visitors in eLearning Lab today. Thomas Ryberg was hosting a visit by a group of ICT and media consultants from all over the country. They all work with taking ICT into use in schools; some as instructors; some as ICT & learning-experts in schools; some as trainers of teachers, etc.
We had good discussions about challenges and opportunities in working with the so-called ‘digital natives’. Identification of the rigth level of technical competency seems to be a shared concern for many of the participants - what do young learners need to know about the technology and how it works? and when is it more important to be able to do things, rather than to understand why and how it works…?
Also the qualifications of the teacher is in focus, and the question of how to find the best way of educating teachers to use media and ICT in pedagogical sound ways. Lots of shared interests, in other words :-)
Workshop in Vienna with the EATrain2-project
On Nov. 5th I attended a project meeting in the EATrain2-project, where my colleague Thomas Ryberg heads a workpackage aiming to develop a “learning design”. My part in the project meeting was to run a design workshop using the COeD tool.
