Combining work practice and research - like this…
The July-issue of Aalborg University’s monthly magazine “UGlen” features a two page-portrait of colleague Lillian Buus (in Danish only). Lillian is doing her Ph.D. part-time in eLearning Lab and works part-time at the elearning unit at the Faculty of Humanities at the same time. Lillian’s story is a very good example of how profesional experience and research can blend succesfully - however, the issues of dividing your time between two demanding jobs with rather different criteria for succes and measures of quality, are not touched upon in the article ;-)

This session dealt with data from Ph.D.-student Sara Højslett Nygaard’s work. She presented this for collaborative analysis and discussion. Very interesting studies of class room interactions, which gave rise to quite animated discussions with lots of relevant perspectives for our project at Søndervangskolen.
MUMA is led by Pirkko Raudaskoski, and thanks to her wonderfully open and inviting style this was a very pleasant first participation for Jacob and myself. Hope to be presenting our own work soon…
On Sept. 16th, we carried out field studies at Hvidovre Produktionsskole, related to our collaboration with Taleinstituttet. I visited the school with colleague Tom Nyvang, and two people from the project group at Taleinstituttet. We interviewed teachers, observed teaching and meetings, and got a very good impression of a very interesting school. Data will inform our further work in the Produktionsskoleprojekt, including the upcoming workshop on technologies for communication and collaboration on Oct. 9th.
Group work at workshop with staff from Institute for Speech Therapy. We wanted the participant to discuss and describe the qualities in their way of working - why is their practice a good one? Card sorting was used as a means of facilitating the discussion and the proces.
Three engaged groups work side by side, then present their vies to each other.
