The Theory and Practice of Design for Learning - Workshop held in eLearning Lab on April 24th 2012

An interesting day spent with great people from the field of Learning Design, Grainne Conole from Leicester University, UK; Yishay Mor, Open University, UK; and Thomas Ryberg from eLearning Lab, Aalborg University.

Talks, hands on, workshop, design activities - all about learning design, tools to support it, ways of facilitating it, etc. Together with colleagues PO Zander and Md. Saifuddin Khalid, we managed to do a little work on our ePolicyInPractice case :-)

The ePolicy in Practice project has been conducting workshops and fieldstudies at Dhaka University, Bangladesh. Two workshops were carried out with both teachers from various departments, and with admin staff from various offices around the university. Of particular interest to us was to see how participatory methods would work in these settings. We had three very good days, and found that the participants in all workshops came up with very good ideas for further development of their workpractices. We have brought back a lot of data (field notes, photos, products from the workshops, interviews), and I am looking forward to analysing it together with my colleague, Pär-Ola Zander.

Tomorrow I leave for Dhaka University, Bangladesh, where I will join with former Erasmus scholar and eLL-colleague, Sikder Murshed from Dhaka University, and Pär-Ola Zander and Lone Dirckinck-Holmfeld from Aalborg University. We will all participate in the official inauguration of the collaborative reserach project ePolicy in Practice, aiming at exploring the scope for digitalising administration and teaching and Dhaka University (DU).
Pär-Ola and I will conduct some workshops with administrators, teachers and management from DU, where we will use a variety of participatory methods. We are very excited to see how it will all work out :-)

Supervisor’s workshop and inspiration day
A full day with inspiring and insightful presentations at the wonderful Utzon Center (Aalborg waterfront). The doctoral school of the humanities had invited Vernon Trafford to give a workshop on “Episteme - thinking like a researcher”, and “Conceptualising frameworks”. This was a very interesting and stimulating day for supervisors of Ph.D.-students at the faculty of the humanities.

Workshop in Vienna with the EATrain2-project
On Nov. 5th I attended a project meeting in the EATrain2-project, where my colleague Thomas Ryberg heads a workpackage aiming to develop a “learning design”. My part in the project meeting was to run a design workshop using the COeD tool.
